The Senate has adopted the anti-SLAPP law, now waiting to be published in the Official Monitor

The Ministry of Justice transposed the directive, sending the law to Parliament for approval. The law passed the Chamber of Deputies and it is currently stuck in the Senate.

On 8 September 2026, the Senate adopted the anti-SLAPP law after months of stagnation and long past the deadline.

The President must now promulgate the law that will then be published in the Official Monitor.

Ministry of Justice has prepared legislative proposals to transpose Anti-SLAPP standards

The National Working Group (within the Ministry of Justice of Romania) has prepared legislative proposals which will address also domestic SLAPPs. On 6 June 2025, the draft was subject to a public debate. Minutes are available here.The draft proposal itself is available here.
